I am Capable. I am Worthy. I am Enough.
Several years ago, I went through what I can only describe as a burnout and a breakdown. Both personally and professionally I was lost. I did not know which direction to look or to move and became frozen in my fear and my anxiety and my depression. I felt like I did not have a plan or a purpose and was just floating through my life. I needed something to ground me in the present moment to help me get my bearings. I did not feel capable, I did not feel worthy, and I certainly did not feel like enough as a person, as an employee, or as a partner and a friend.
These 3 short sentences became a touchstone in those moments of feeling unmoored and untethered. It was not a way to discredit how I was feeling or the idea that I could just repeat these words to myself and talk myself into a positive mindset. This was a way for me to discern what was real and true for myself and what my anxiety was trying to convince me was real and true.
In this week’s blog, I will share further how these touchstones in moments of ungroundedness became a glimpse of belief that these words were true for myself. That defining myself based on the work that I did, or the things I accomplished, or what I checked off a list did not define my capability or my worth. That simply being myself, however I showed up made me worthy and made me enough.
