It’s Time You Belonged to Your Own Life.
I wrote this in my journal several years ago. I don’t even think I knew at that time what I meant by writing it, belonging to my own life, what does that event mean? I do remember feeling like my life at that time wasn’t mine, it didn’t fit, everything felt off, stifling, like I was on a path but did not know where the fuck I was going. I couldn’t get off of it, but I desperately knew I needed to.
There wasn’t a magical aha moment, or a simple declaration, I am going to live my life differently! And it all changed. But little but little, time and more time went by and I began to peal back decades of layers of expectations, judgements, requirements to see where I could start to really discern, am I making this decision because I want to or because I feel like I have to? It wasn’t easy, it’s still not. I still reckon often with this questions, why am I doing this, why am I making this decision, why am I moving in this direction? But each time it just becomes a little more clearer, and that I am grateful for.
