Do You Communicate From a Place of Fear or From a Place of Openness?

Communication can be the key to so much. Communication from a place of fear can cause breakdowns, misunderstanding, judgement, mistrust. Communication from a place of openness can provide empathy, understanding, care, supportive moments of vulnerability.

Understanding how and why we communicate and how those around us do the same is crucial in building a true sense of belonging because it cultivates an ability for all of us to be seen, to be heard, and to be validated.

I invite you to consider how do you communicate with those around you, in your home, in your workspace, in your community? How are those around you communicating with you in those spaces? Do you feel seen, heard, and validated and if not where is the breakdown? Communication is certainly not a one-way street; it takes commitment and willingness to move from fear to openness.

I believe that if we begin to communicate with one another from a place of openness and not from a place of fear, we can begin to build communities of true belonging.
